Children's Ministry
Pastor: Chris Mangold
The Bible is clear that the call of Christian parents is to train and teach their children the gospel. We eagerly desire as a church to support parents in this effort. Although teaching and training children in the gospel is the greatest challenge and task parents have been given, God has provided many promises and reasons for faith in the process. God has also provided the local church to train parents and to join with them in this responsibility.
Sunday Morning Children's Ministry
Our goal is to provide an environment that is safe and fun, but with the gospel as the defining emphasis of everything we do during this hour. We seek to do much more than simply provide childcare while parents attend the Sunday meeting.
Thinking About Visiting For the First Time?
Simply stop by the help desk under the SGC Kids in the church lobby when you arrive. Children's Ministry greeters will be glad to serve you and answer any questions you may have. You will be given information about where and when to take your child and can look at an overview of our curriculum. You are welcome to stay with your child to observe the class for yourself when you visit.
Nursery
Children who are 6 months old through 16 months are cuddled and cared for in a clean, comfortable and safe environment. Members with a heart for little ones serve in our nursery equipped with cribs for a short nap, gliders for a cozy little rock, and toys for play.
Toddler Room
Your toddler can have a bundle of fun playing with a variety of toys and at play stations while under the supervision of a loving Children's Ministry worker. Toddlers will enjoy Bible stories, music amd more. Provided for children ages 16 months through age 2.
Classes - Age 2-10
We offer classes for each individual age level, enabling us to design the teaching and instruction appropriate for the age of your child. Our goal is to continually reveal the attributes of God, while pointing each child to the gospel message of Jesus Christ. We want each child to become familiar with the Word of God and to understand that it is Him alone that saves us and can satisfy the desires of our heart. To help us be effective in achieving these goals, we use curriculum from Desiring God Ministries.
What You Can Expect
When you walk into the classroom, your child will be greeted by one of our members who will sign him in and walk him over to meet some new friends gathered in a small group. Small groups help visitors feel welcomed right away and allows them to jump right in on the activities. The classes begin with a time of worship and prayer. Our teachers consider it a privilege to be able to prepare for the lesson and pray for the class during the week. The lesson is the main part of each class and children sit with anticipation and interest as the teacher tells them about our awesome and wonderful Savior. After the lesson, children return to their small groups and enjoy a discussion, ask questions and share prayer requests. The younger classes have time to color and play as part of the morning. If your child needs you during class, we will contact you quickly so that you can return to the classroom.
