About Us

Biblical church life is characterized by a commitment to hearing and obeying God's Word, powerful worship, genuine relationships and a passion to influence the world with the good news of Jesus Christ. Sovereign Grace Church began in 1987, when several families and individuals relocated to Hampton Roads, Virginia with a vision to build a local church.

Our lives have been changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Each Sunday morning, we gather together to express our heartfelt gratitude and love for our Savior in a service of celebration. Our Sunday service provides the context where we treasure Christ together through worship, the preaching of the word of God, the ministry of the Holy Spirit and fellowship with one another.

What can you expect?

Our service begins at 10:00 a.m. with a time of singing where we lift our voices through song and prayer in passionate worship to God. We gather to exalt and encounter God our Father, through His Son and by His Spirit. This time of worship is a wonderful part of our morning.

After worship, we participate as a church in giving to Lord and we also take time to hear how God is at work in our church through announcements, testimonies, or other updates. We then take a break so that we can take our children to their Childrens Ministry classes. Every visitor is welcome to bring your child(ren) to class. All you need to do is register your child at our Childrens Ministry Desk in the lobby.

After this break, the pastor will call everyone back together for the preaching of God's word. This is a key part of our service as we are addressed by God through His word.

Finally, we close our meeting with an opportunity to pray for anyone in need and we dismiss to our lobby, where coffee is served. You can expect to see people caring for each other through prayer, words of encouragement, and much conversation after our service.

As a visitor, you are welcome to attend a special guest reception held in your honor immediately following the service in the lobby. The reception is a great opportunity for you to learn more about our church from one of our pastors and to meet new people.
